About the Designer
Rafał Olbiński (b. 1943) is an internationally celebrated painter, illustrator, and designer who represents one of the most prominent later figures of the Polish Poster School. Graduating in architecture from the Warsaw University of Technology, Olbiński immigrated to the United States in 1981, where he achieved widespread acclaim as a premier illustrator for leading institutions including the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Times, and Time Magazine. Infusing visual communication with a poetic, witty, and masterfully painted branch of magical realism, his works have earned prestigious accolades such as the International Oscar for the World's Most Memorable Poster.
