About the Artist:
Ori Reisman (1924–1991) was a highly influential avant-garde Israeli painter, born in Kibbutz Tel Yosef and deeply tied to Kibbutz Kabri. He studied in Tel Aviv under Yitzhak Frankel before refining his practice at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris during the 1950s. A prominent member of the "Climate" (Aklim) artistic group, Reisman developed a radically unique style marked by flat, expansive planes of bright color and strict formal reduction. Whether depicting vast Galilean landscapes or human portraits, his works eliminate distracting details to expose raw emotion and essence. While working on the fringes of the institutional art scene for decades, Reisman's retrospective acclaim solidifies him today as one of Israel's most profound modernist visionaries.
