About the Artist:
Aharon Alkalay was a prominent Israeli modernist painter born in Bulgaria. After completing his formal art education in Sofia, focusing on painting, frescoes, and mosaics, he immigrated to Israel in 1948. Alkalay served as a teacher and director of the Bat Yam Institute of Art and taught at the State Teachers Training College for Arts. In the 1960s, he was a founding member of the historic Artists' Colony in Safed. His landscape works are highly regarded for their sensitive lines, structured forms, and post-impressionist color sensibilities.
