One of Piranesi’s celebrated views of Rome, depicting the grand staircase leading to Santa Maria in Aracoeli on the Capitoline Hill, with the Capitoline palaces in the background. From the monumental series Vedute di Roma, which established Piranesi as the foremost engraver of Roman architecture in the 18th century.
