About the Artist:
Esther Lurie (1913–1998): A prominent Latvia-born Israeli painter and stage designer who immigrated to Israel in 1934.
Historical Significance: Highly acclaimed for her powerful visual documentation of the Holocaust, secretly sketching life inside the Kovno Ghetto. Her wartime drawings served as historical testimony at the Eichmann trial.
Post-War Career: Settled in Tel Aviv, dedicating much of her post-war oeuvre to capturing Israeli landscapes, historical sites, and the cityscapes of Jerusalem.
