About the Artist:
Jules Perahim (1914–2008) was a towering master of the European avant-garde and a central figure in Romanian and French surrealism. Born in Bucharest, he established himself as a radical visual voice in the 1930s before fleeing to France, where he became an active member of the Parisian surrealist circle alongside Max Ernst and Wifredo Lam. Perahim's distinctive style seamlessly fuses mythological imagery, mechanical-organic hybrid forms, and philosophical symbolism. His works are highly prized internationally and are held in the permanent collections of major contemporary art institutions, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
