About the Artist / Institution
Osvaldo Romberg was an internationally acclaimed Argentine-Israeli conceptual artist, theoretician, and influential curator. Widely celebrated for his pioneering analytical projects of the 1970s and 1980s, Romberg dedicated his practice to deconstructing the historical milestones of Western art into objective color vocabularies, paradigms, and academic taxonomies, dryly satirizing the limits of rational human perception. He served as a senior professor at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, represented Israel at the Venice Biennale, and heavily shaped the Israeli avant-garde landscape. His rare structural works are preserved within premier global museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
