About the Poster

This rare and highly collectible Reuven Rubin Israel Museum Poster was published in May 1966 to commemorate an early, landmark solo exhibition of the artist at the newly opened Israel Museum in Jerusalem. The striking visual features Rubin's expressive, dynamic red rooster ink drawing, rich with gestural paint splatters and bold textures. Printed with dual Hebrew and English typography along the lower border, the poster includes the Hebrew calendar dates (Iyar-Sivan, תשכ"ו). It captures a pivotal moment in Israeli cultural history, blending Rubin's iconic local modernism with mid-century institutional design.

About the Artist

Reuven Rubin was a pioneer of modern Israeli art and one of the country's most celebrated twentieth-century painters. Born in Romania, he immigrated to Pre-State Israel in the 1920s and became a leading figure of the "Eretz Yisrael" style, capturing the local landscape, olive groves, and diverse faces of early Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. His work masterfully fuses European modernism with a radiant, sun-drenched palette and native symbolism. Rubin served as Israel’s first diplomatic envoy to Romania and his former Tel Aviv home operates today as a public museum dedicated to his vast artistic legacy.
