About the Artist:
Baroness Thora G.L. Hamilton (1893–1970), born Thora Klinckowström in Sweden, was a prominent modernist painter, writer, and a central muse of the Paris avant-garde in the 1919-1920s. Initially married to the legendary Swedish vanguard artist Nils von Dardel, she was a close confidante to the era's greatest masters. Notably, her historic 1919 portrait was sketched by Amadeo Modigliani (now held in the National Gallery of Denmark). Following her later marriage to Jesper Hamilton, she signed her independent painterly works as "Thora Hamilton" or "Thora G.L. Hamilton". Her works capture the poetic, structural, and bohemian essence of mid-century European modernism.
