About the Artist
Tuvia Beeri (1929–2022) was one of Israel's most influential master printmakers and modern graphic artists. Born in Czechoslovakia, he survived World War II before immigrating to Israel in 1948. After studying fine arts at the Oranim Institute under Marcel Janco, Beeri traveled to Paris in the early 1960s to perfect his intaglio techniques under the legendary French avant-garde master Johnny Friedlaender at the École des Beaux-Arts. Upon his return, he founded the etching workshops at both the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and the Avni Institute of Art in Tel Aviv. Celebrated by contemporary critics for creating boundless, metaphysical fantasy landscapes, Beeri won the Gold Medal at the Florence Biennale in 1972. His magnificent print works are enshrined in major global museums, including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and private collections across Europe and the United States.
