About the Artwork
This rare portrait features Israel's national poet, Chaim Nachman Bialik. It is an original drypoint engraving by the Jewish-Polish artist Jakob Glasner. The artwork includes Bialik's authentic Hebrew signature etched directly into the plate, confirming it was created during his lifetime with his authorization. Glasner's pencil signature is visible in the lower right corner, with his initials (JG) inside the plate. The lower left corner bears the handwritten pencil inscription "orig. Pointe-sèche" alongside the widely spaced handwritten title "'Bialik".
