This authentic antique steel engraving, published circa 1836, captures the dramatic, wild topography of the Villages of Barouk situated within the mountain ridges of Mount Lebanon. Masterfully drawn from nature by the renowned British topographical illustrator William Henry Bartlett, the composition details traditional stone houses nestled onto steep, rugged cliffs overlooking a deep, verdant mountain glen. In the left foreground, a local shepherd in regional attire is depicted resting on a grassy outcrop alongside a goat, gazing into the vast valley.
